Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I really enjoyed spending time with Hannah, Matt and my three grandchildren, Cooper 4, Lex 1 almost 2 and our newest addition Everett! The toughest part of my visit was Garland had to stay in Columbia with the boat. This is the first Christmas we have spent apart since we have been married. Which adds up to 35 Christmases!!! I miss G Mann terribly and wish he could have been here, but in order for me to be here he had to make a sacrifice and stay on the boat. I really appreciate his willingness to make it all happen and miss out on spending time with his family. Sometimes in life things don't always turn out like you plan and you have to be very flexible. It reminds me a lot of how we work together on our sailing. A lot of give and take along with being very open to change. While sailing we have learned that usually traveling to far off places is quite an adventure and full of fun. At the same time there are a lot of unknowns and obstacles along the way. Thank goodness we have pulled together during our marriage working with the good, the bad and the ugly and that is why we love to sail together. Every trip brings us closer together and we develop our team building skills that make us a strong match. I will be returning to Santa Marta, Columbia on January 7, 2024. I am excited to see G Mann, but I will miss Hannah, Matt and the boys. It is so hard to be away for so long and at the same time I am super excited to start our adventure!
